James VI (I) gold Unite (Scepter) ND (1604-1609) UNC Details (Saltwater Damage) NGC, Edinburgh mint, Thistle mm, Ninth coinage, KM28, S-5463. 9.96gm. •(thistle mm)• IACOBVS • D • G • MAG' • BRIT' • FRAN' • & HIB' • REX, crowned, armored half figure of James right, scepter in right hand, globus cruciger in left / •(thistle mm)• FACIAM • EOS • IN • GENTEM • VNAM •, crowned royal shield, I-R to either side. Highly attractive, the noted saltwater effect produced a matte-like element to the luster and leaving the surfaces a sandy golden hue. Rarely seen better-struck, and fully Mint State.
