Description

William II, Rufus (1087-1100) Penny ND (c. 1089-1092) MS61 NGC, London mint, Eadwine as moneyer, Cross-in-Quatrefoil type, S-1259, N-852 (R). 1.37gm. +ǷILLEM R[...], crowned bust of William facing, sword held over right shoulder / +EDǷINE ON LVND (ND ligate), quatrefoil with pellet at each angle enclosing a cross pattee with annulet in centre. Struck on a slightly wavy planchet, though conditionally very well-preserved for the type, with icy surfaces and minimal evidence of tone.
