Description

Charles I gold Unite ND (1627-1628) MS63 NGC, Tower mint under Charles, Castle mm, KM151.1, S-2687, N-2148, Brooker-38-40. 9.10gm. Group B. (castle mm) • CAROLVS • D' • G' • MAG' • BR' • FR' • ET • HIB' • REX •, crowned second bust of Charles left, value (XX) behind / • (castle) • FLORENT CONCORDIA REGNA •, crowned royal arms. Virtually unheard-of quality for Charles's unite coinage, with known specimens hardly ever escaping AU grades on the high end, let alone entering into Mint State. Pairing a full and undoubled strike with excellent technical preservation, at a level which seems to exceed all of the plated examples of the same variety from the John Brooker collection, the offering exists as the sole Mint State-graded piece across both major grading services. From the Storck Collection
