South Vietnam National Bank of Viet Nam 500 Dong ND (1962) Pick 6Aa PCGS About New 53PPQ. This highest denomination type circulated briefly before being withdrawn and demonetized after the Military coup in South Vietnam in 1963. President Ngo Dinh Diem was removed from office on November 1st, 1963, and executed the following day. His presidential palace and watermark are seen on this note, both of which reminded the public of their hated former president. The historical events in South Vietnam make this note seldom seen today in any grade, and especially so with totally original paper. The A1 prefix is seen on this TDLR printed banknote. A modern rarity, especially in this grade. In fact, at the time of cataloging, the finest graded example in the PMG Population Report is Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.
