English is seen on this example as it was geared towards Europeans in an attempt to replace contemporary Chinese yuan issues, which also featured English. From the serial number font, these notes were most likely printed in Russia. This is not unexpected as the main ruler of Mongolia at that time, Baron Ungern, was a Russian anti-Bolshevik military leader. An appealing denomination and grade alike.
