The Bermuda Government was unhappy with the paper quality of the previously issued 5 Shillings banknote, and employed Waterlow & Sons to design and print the 1927 series. Using both solid-letter and split prefixes, this denomination was issued for 10 years, amounting to 450,000 pieces in total.
