Iran Bank Melli 1000 Rials ND (1934-35 / AH1313-14) Pick 30a PMG Very Fine 20 Net. In the theme of the early 1930s Iranian banknotes, the 1000 Rials featured a similar mix of modern, with Reza Shah at right, and Darius the Great stabbing an Ahriman monster at left. Many of the iconic stone reliefs from Persepolis and other Persian historic sites were used in this series. This denomination is the highest issued in the 1930s, with few, if any, of either the dated or undated (Pick 30a and 31a) making appearances in any given year. This piece has been repaired, but is rarely encountered in any finer state of preservation. From the Yuri Solovey Collection of Persia and the Middle East
