Description

ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 475-465 BC. AR light weight tetradrachm (24mm, 15.62 gm, 11h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 4/5, edge cuts. Head of Athena right with frontal eye and 'archaic smile', hair drawn in wavy line across forehead, wearing Attic helmet ornamented with three laurel leaves and vine scroll, earring and pearl necklace / AΘE, owl standing right, head facing, olive sprig and small crescent moon behind, all within deep incuse square. HGC 4, 1593. Starr Group II.
