Solomon Islands Government of the British Solomon Islands 1 Pound 2.1.1926 Pick 1 PMG Very Fine 20. Any banknote from this series is quite special, as very few were issued and almost none were saved for posterity. Thomas de la Rue prepared 6,000 banknotes across three dates, with 5,546 issued from 1917 through 1937, before these notes were withdrawn. Interestingly, local issues for the Solomon Islands were initially not intended for use by the native population, which is the reason for such a small issuance for this type. We have not offered this type previously, and only five examples have been graded by PMG at the time of cataloging. A must-have for British Commonwealth and South Pacific collectors. From The Drs.
