The Cappadocian Kingdom - Ariarathes VII Philometor (116-101 BC) - AR Tetradrachm (Eusebia-Tyana, c. 116-101 BC, 16.45 g) - Diademed head of Ariarathes VII to right, filleted border / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΡΙΑΡΑΘΟΥ ΦΙΛΟΜΗΤΟΡΟΣ Athena standing left, holding Nike and spear, shield leaning against her left leg, monogram over Α in outer left field, Ο in inner left field, Λ in inner right field (all within laurel wreath) (De Callatay pl. 44, 194 / Simonetta pag. 35, note 1 / Mörkholm in SNR 57, 1978, p. 150 / cf. Sear 7288 'unique') - insignificant scratch in hair obv., otherwise good VF with a nice gray patina, an attractive specimen of this very rare issue
