India - British - Madras Presidency - AE X CASH (4.55 g.), brockage (so-called “Lakhi”) (1808), Soho Mint ((type)KM.320 Stv.5.135; Pr.206) - it is presumed that statistically about one in a lakh (100.000) happen to be a brockage, that’s why in India they are generally referred to as “Lakhi”. It also could be a straightforward corruption of the word 'lucky' and may have its origins in the charm-like qualities that people would attach to a brockage, which were rare occurrences. Thus lucky to find one.
