Description

India - Princely States - Tripura - Rajadhara Manikya (1586-1599) - AR Tanka SE1508, citing Queen Satyavati (KM.97; RB.178) - Obv: Lion facing left, standard above, small pellet added to left of standard, date below / Rev: Bengali legend in four lines within square with ornaments outside - 10.59 g. - a.XF, it is said that Rajadhara Manikya devoted himself to religious ceremonies rather than the affairs of state. His end came when he fell into the river Gumti and was drowned while drinking water in which an image of Vishnu had been washed. All his coins are dated SE1508 but there are several variations in the form of the standard above the lion
