Description

The Indo-Greek Kingdom - Philoxenos (ca. 110-80 BC) - Bilingual AR tetradrachm (6.59 g.), diademed bust with Boeotian helmet r., Greek legend around / Helmeted and armoured king charging r. on horseback, monogram below. Uncertain mint in the Paropamisadai or Gandhara. Very rare. General features gVF or even better, but show a black patina, light in weight and brittle on the edges. The provenance of the coins with these features can be traced back to the Mir Zakah II hoard. Ref.: Bop. series 3.J; MIG 338.i; Hoover 268
