Description

An ivory-glazed faience inlay of Amun of exceptional quality. Carved in form of a ram striding in left profile. The inlay is naturalistically modelled, with delicate facial features, a long tail and curling horn, his head surmounted by apair of twisted Apis-horn. Legs, tips of horns and beard broken and missing, tip of muzzle chipped. First published in 1909. From the famous collection of Martine de Béhague, Comtesse R. de Béarn (1870 - 1939). Amun als Widder. Spätzeit - Ptolemäerzeit, ca. 712 - 30 v.Chr. Elfenbeinfarbene Fayenceeinlage, L 7cm H 3,8cm. Linkshin schreitender Widder mit Bekrönung. Exzellente Qualität! Publiziert: H. A.
