Description

India - Southern Deccan, Kakatiyas of Warangal. Gold Gadyana (4.86 g), ca. 1050-1100. Eight punches around a central punch depicting a caparisoned elephant standing right; outer punches: Kannada letter 'Shri' (x2), caparisoned elephant standing right (x4), Kannada legend Dhara and Kannada legend Pathi. It would seem that Koma Lenka was a feudatory ruler under the Kakatiyas of Waranga, perhaps ruling during the reign of Prola I (ca. 1052-1076).
