1907. High relief, Roman numerals, wire rim. PCGS graded MS-64. CAC. PQ. Here is a classic example of the High Relief double eagle. The surfaces are outstanding with nary a nick or bagmark to be found, even under the scrutiny of a strong loupe. The strike(s) are full and sharp, as several strikes were required to bring up the majestic depth of the designs here. Of course no modern mint (114 years ago or even today) was capable of striking such coins with enough force to bring up the designs fully in a single blow, as immense pressures were required to strike up the central and highest devices of this design. Thus each of these was struck six to eight times. Here is a magnificent near gem that will earn an honored place in any advanced collection. Only 11,250 struck (PCGS # 9135) Estimated Value $25,000 - UP
