Description
Persia. Achaemenid Kings. Circa 485-420 BC. Gold Daric (13.40 mm, 8.36 g.). Great King with kidaris and kandys in kneeling-running attitude on exergual line to right, holding strung bow and apple-tipped spear over right shoulder with point downwards; quiver at left shoulder. Rev. Oblong incuse punch. Carradice, Type IIIb A/B, pl. XIII, 27; BMC Arabia, 40 (pl. XXIV, 24). Very fine.
