Hadrian, AD 118. Rome. Silver Denarius (20 mm, 3.23 g.). IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG, laureate, heroic bust of Hadrian to right, draped left shoulder. Rev. P M TR P COS III, Felicitas standing left, holding caduceus and cornucopiae, FEL-AVG across fields. RIC 41; RIC II-3, 134; BMCRE 66-67; RSC 595. Good very fine, nicely toned with an attractive semi-naked bust and particular early portrait of the young Hadrian with a bigger, slightly curvy nose, obviously slightly before his portrait sophisticated and idealised under the influence of the Hellenistic culture.
