Republic. Mn. Fonteius, 85 BC. AR Denarius (20.4 mm, 3.42 g.). Rome mint. MN•FONTEI – C F (MN and NT ligate), laureate head of Apollo-Vejovis to right; thunderbolt below neck. Rev. Winged Cupid seated right on goat; pilei of the Dioscuri above, filleted thunderbolt below; all within wreath. Crawford 353/1a; Sydenham 724; RSC Fonteia 9. Some wear, old scratches and slightly serrated flan. Toned. Very fine.
