Philip I, AD 244–249. AE Sestertius. (26,9 mm. 18,3 g.). Rome. IMP M IVL PHILIPPVS AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev. SAECVLARES AVGG, SC in exergue, stag walking right. RIC 160a, Cohen 183; Sear 9012. Good Very Fine. A small module sestertius, classical size for this period but very attractive example with a fascinating emerald like green patina, rarer zoomorphic reverse type and bold, very well defined portrait, an intact pleasant specimen-Ludi Saeculares (Secular Games) issue, commemorating the 1000th anniversary of Rome.
