Peloponnesos. Argolis, Argos. Circa 480s-460s. BC. AR Triobol ( 15mm, 2.57 g.). Forepart of wolf to left, both legs parallel to the neck, as if the wolf was lying down. Rev. within shallow incuse square containing, in the upper part, two relatively shallow square incuses; pellet below cross bar. BMC 9 var. Traité 1200 var. BCD Peloponnesos 1015. The wolf changes on the obverse to a short-lived version with parallel legs, as if the wolf was lying down. An extremely rare variety.
