dating: 1706 provenance: Duchy of Savoy, Made of silver. On the obverse, an armoured bust (right); on the border 'EUGENIVS FRANC. DVX SAB. S.C.M. GENER. GVBER. MED'; on the shoulder cut 'P.H.M.'. On the reverse a battle scene, at the top 'GENIO TVTELARI ITALIAE'; on the exergue 'SABAVD LIBERAT MEDIOLAN RESTITVT DVCE AVRE LIAN . CVM EXERC FV GATO 1706'. On the borders 'QVACVNQVE VIAM SECAT AGMINA CONVERSÆQVE RVVNT ACIES'. 20 g. Period: Vittorio Amedeo II (1675 - 1730). In 1706, the imperial forces under the command of Prince Eugene of Savoy, known as 'The Great Captain,' defeated the French armies. This victory marked the beginning of Austrian domination over the Lombardy region. diameter 3.6 cm.
