Augustus (Divus), died AD. 14. AE As. 9.90 g. - 26.62 mm. Rome, struck under Tiberius, Rome, 22/3-30 AD.
Obv.: DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER. Radiate head of Augustus to left.
Rev.: S - C / PROVIDENT. Altar, with closed, double-panelled door.
Ref.: BMC 146 (Tiberius); BN 132 (Tiberius); Cohen 228; RIC² 81 (Tiberius).
A very elegant portrait of exquisite style, the work of a talented engraver. A lovely untouched attractive green patina.
