Description

Phrygia, Cotiaeum. Philip I, AD 244-249. AE. 13.59 g. 30.10 mm. Iulius Quadratus II first archon, of equestrian rank.
Obv: Μ ΙΟΥΛΙΟϹ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟϹ ΑΥ. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Philip I, left, right hand raised and holding sceptre (?) with left.
Rev: ΕΠΙ ΙΟΥΛ ΚΟΔΡΑΤΟΥ ΥΙΟΥ ΙΠΠΙ ΑΡΧ ΚΟΤΙΑΕΩΝ. Cybele seated in biga drawn by two lions, left, holding patera and resting arm on tympanum.
