Description

PB Hellenistic sling bullet (c. 4th century BC)
Sling bullet with an inscription ΑΛΕ on one side; the other is blank. These letters are most likely an abbreviation for the name Alexander (Αλέξανδρος).
This type of bullets with the legend of Αλεξάνδρου and are almond-shaped, have been defined as belonging to Alexander the Great's troops. These types, similar to which are found in Thrace, are associated with the campaign of Alexander the Great in Thrace in 335 BC.
Cf. M. Manov – N. Torbov 2016, ‘Inscribed Lead Sling Bullets with the Name of Alexander the Great and with Other Names and Symbols Found in Thrace’, Archaeologia Bulgarica 20, p. 30–31.
Weight: 23.15 g.
Diameter: 26.13 mm.
