PB Byzantine seal of Kosmas (AD 6th century)
Obv: Inscription in the form of a cross with stars in the four angles created by the cross-shaped inscription: Κοσμᾶ.
Rev: S within large U; above, below and to left and right, 8-rayed star.
Translation: (Seal of) Kosmas . . ..
Parallel specimens, Doaks, BZS.1951.31.5.2922; Zacos I 1359.
The reverse monogram is indecipherable; but it is suggested that it may be illus(tr)ius.
Weight: 17.99 g.
Diameter: 23.11 mm.
