Cerberus is the three-headed dog of Hades who guards the gate to the underworld. Its function is to prevent the living from entering and the dead from coming out. Cerberus's tail is made of snakes and there are countless snake heads on its back. Their bites are poisonous and deadly.
Heracles' twelfth and final task was to capture Cerberus. This task of Heracles, who managed to capture Cerberus despite his terrible appearance, made him very impressive in Greek mythology.
