Extremely Fine.In the Middle Ages the most common coins were Venetian gold ducats, active trading activities in the eastern Mediterranean and Aegean were a factor in this. At that time, the Venetian ducas were also popular in the Ottoman countries and were used there as well. Immediately after the conquest of Constantinople, Mehmet the Conqueror minted his own gold coin for the first time, based on the weight and diameter of Venetian dukas. Until the first gold coin from Fatih, the Venetian ducats were mainly used for international trade in the Ottoman Empire. These Venetian coins were inspected by the Ottoman mint and sometimes counterstamped confirming the exact, correct weight.
We see that the reverse of this coin was counterstamped by the Ottoman Empire and was used in Ottoman territory.
