The obverse presents an idealized view of Frankfurt, a Free Imperial City of the Holy Roman Empire and a major political and commercial center. The reverse features an allegorical personification of the city giving thanks for the return of peace, symbolized through the act of sacrifice. The radiant divine name (tetragrammaton) on the obverse reflects the religious tone of peace celebrations in the 18th century. A finely executed historical medal by the well-known medallist Johann Leonhard Oexlein, representing both religious and civic ideals of the Enlightenment era.
