Ghaznavid (Nishapur / Naysabur), AV dinar AH 396 (1005-06 AD) – Mahmud (AH 389-421 / 999-1030 AD)
Fine gold. 3.11g. 23mm. UNC/UNC. A striking specimen in deep gold tones, exhibiting exceptional detail and radiant mint luster. Regnal titulature: Yamin al-Dawla wa Amin al-Milla Abu'l-Qasim. Album 1606. The dinars of the Ghaznavid rulers struck in Nishapur (Naysabur), in present-day northeastern Iran, are known for their fine gold content and elaborate, highly artistic epigraphic style. This specimen is of particularly high quality, with well-preserved minor details in the relief.
