Abbasid (Madinat Samarqand) AR dirham AH 198 (813-14 AD) - al-Ma’mun (AH 194-218 / 810-833 AD)
2.92g. 24mm. AU/VF+. Some mint luster. Citing al-Fadl (b. Sahl) and the caliph al-Ma’mun as al-imam and amir al-mu’minin. Album 223.3; Lowick 2664. Not in Shams Eshragh since Shams Eshragh 1138 is actually Lowick 2663. A lovely specimen representing the Early Abbasid epigraphic style, developed between 750 and 832 AD.
