Lucania (Velia) AR Nomos (с. 340-330 BC)
7.59g. 22mm. AU/XF. Magnificent specimen with mint luster, attractive aged toning, and a well-centered strike. Uncommonly well-preserved and visually appealing. Struck from a worn obverse die. Obv.: Head of Athena to left, wearing crested decorated Attic helmet. Rev.: Lion to left, devouring prey; Φ below; “ΥEΛHTΩN” in exergue. Williams 328; SNG Cop. 1568; HN Italy 1296.
