Description

LOMBARDS, Tuscany. Municipal coinage. Circa 700-750. AV Tremissis (16mm, 1.36 g, 6h). Lucca mint. + FLAVIA LVCA, stellate symbol within circle; leaves in voids / · VIVIVIVIVIVIVIVIVIV, cross potent. Cf. Grierson, Coins of Medieval Europe 67 (for a similar Lucca issue, but in the name of Aistulf) ; Bernareggi 206 var. (star above and below cross); Bernareggi, Moneta 18 var. (same); BMC Vandals 1; MEC 1, 319 var. (same). Toned, flan cracks. VF. Very rare.
