SATRAPS OF CARIA. Maussolos (Circa 377/6-353/2 BC). Drachm. Halikarnassos.
Obv: Laureate head of Apollo facing slightly right.
Rev: MAYΣΣΩΛΛON.
Zeus standing right, holding sceptre and labrys.
SNG Kayhan I 879.
Mausolus is best known for his tomb, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Condition: Very fine.
Weight: 3.55 g.
Diameter: 13.9 mm.
