Byzantine lead seal of Pothos (Monomachos?) protospatharios and stratiotikos logothetes (11th cent.)
(Lead, 13.66 gr, 29.90 mm, 12h).
Condition: Flatness areas, otherwise Fine/Very Fine.
Uncleaned with a nice natural cream patina.
Obv.: Facial bust of a martyr saint (possibly saint George), nimbate, holding a spear with his right hand and a shield with his left hand, traces of sigla in the field, dotted border.
Rev.: Inscription in 6 lines, ΠΟΘΩ / [Α,]CΠΑΘΑΡ, / [SCΤ]ΤΡΑΤΙΩ[ΤΙΚ, / Ο]ΛΟΓ[ΟΘ] / Ε,ΤΩ[ΜΟΝ,] / Μ,Χ, = Πόθῳ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ στρατιωτικῷ λογοθέτῃ τῷ Μονομάχῳ
