Description

PB Byzantine seal of Samuel Alousianos, proedros and doux (11th century, second half).
Obv: The Mother of God, seated on a backless throne, holding the Child before her. Sigla: Μ(ήτη)ρ Θ(εο)ῦ. Border of dots.
Rev: Inscription of seven lines beginning with a cross: Θ(εοτό)κε βοήθει Σαμουὴλ [πρ]οέδρῳ [(καὶ) δ]ουκὶ τῷ Ἀλουσιάνῳ. Border of dots.
Translation: Mother of God, help Samuel Alousianos, proedros and doux.
