Description

AE Roman gnostic amulet ring; bronze; embossed bezel with anguipede holding whip and shield; inscribed. (4th century AD).
Obv: Frontal view of cock-headed Anguipes in armour, head to right. Right hand raised high and holding a whip?, left hand holding a shield. Traces of inscription under the legs: Ἰάω?
Rev: Inscription in two lines, separated by an engraved line: ΣΑΒ|Α
