Danishmend Gazi was a Turkic warrior and Ghazi who established the Danishmend dynasty in Anatolia in the 11th century. He was born in the town of Daneshment in the region of Central Asia known as Khurasan, and migrated to Anatolia with his brother, Gümüştekin, during the Byzantine-Seljuk Wars in the early 11th century.
Danishmend became a commander under the Seljuk Turks and fought against the Byzantine Empire. After the Seljuk ruler Alp Arslan died in 1072, Danishmend declared independence and founded his own dynasty in the region of Anatolia.
Under Danishmend's rule, the dynasty became a powerful force in Anatolia, with its capital at Melitene (modern-day Malatya). He also established a system of governance, including a legal code, that helped to maintain order and stability in the region.
Danishmend died in 1104 and was succeeded by his son, Emir Gazi, who continued his father's legacy of expanding the Danishmendid dynasty's power in Anatolia. The dynasty continued to rule over parts of Anatolia until it was conquered by the Seljuks in the late 12th century.
