A historically interesting byzantine lead seal
of Manouel Kynegiotes spatharokandidatos and in charge of Chrysotriklinos
(ca 12th cent.)
Obverse: Facial bust of the Mother of God, nimbate, wearing chiton and maphorion, holding before her chest Jesus Christ as infant in a medallion, sigla in the fields, ΜΡ-ΘV (Mother of God), all within wreath border.
Reverse: Inscription in 5 lines between decorative patterns, ΜΑΝΟΥΗΛ/CΠΑΘ,ΚΑΝ/ΔΔ,Τ,ΕΠΙΤ,ΧΡ/ΓΚΛ,ΟΚΥΝ,/ΓΙΩΤΙC = Μανουὴλ σπαθαροκανδιδᾶτος ἐπὶ τοῦ Χρυσοτρικλίνου ὁ Κυνηγιώτης (Manouel Kynegiotes spatharokandidatos and in charge of Chrysotriklinos), all within wreath border.
