A roman carnelian intaglio. Cock and vase. The bird is tightening a snake in its beak, pulling it out of the edge of the vase, which has a flattened profile. Ground line. Double hatched frame around the scene. Hexagonal bezel, of a beautiful colour. Rare iconography. Peculiar sample, very detailed in the engraving, considering the very small size of the stone. 1st century B.C.
6 x 6 x 2 mm.
