Collection of 43 photographs of Rome and its Antiquities taken and collected by John Henry Parker, 1865-1877; various sizes, pages cm 30,5 x 47; Photographs taken by John Parker and Charles Smeaton who experimented the use of artificial light sources (magnesium). Albumin and salt paper prints applied to light cardboard pages. In the photos some classical and early Christian monuments, architectural details, archaeological excavations and the very rare images taken inside the interior of crypts and catacombs. On the whole there are some prints made by the circle of Parker (Simelli, Lais, Colamedici) during the period of collaboration with Rodolfo Lanciani. The innovative insertion of metric references in the images is very interesting.
