Kings of Macedon. Philip III Arrhidaios. Arados, circa 323-315 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26.42 mm, 17.17 g). Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ΦIΛIΠΠOY, Zeus enthroned left, holding sceptre and eagle; monogram in left field and below throne. Price P162 (Marathus). Müller P111. Cfr. Arthur Houghton, "Aradus, not Marathus", in Studies Price p. 146, for the reattribution of the early Marathos coinage to Arados. Toned, with insignificant pitting on reverse. Extremely Fine.
