CILICIA. Tarsos. Tiribazos, Satrap of Lydia, 388-380 BC. Obol (Silver, 9.02 mm, 0.64 g), circa 384-383 BC. ‘TRI’ in Aramaic to right (partially out of flan) Baaltars draped but bare chest standing left, releasing eagle taking flight from his right hand and holding scepter in the left hand, dynastic symbol to left, Aramaic legend to right (both out of flan). Rev. Bearded head of Ahura-Mazda right, wearing loose hair and kalathos. Casabonne Series 1. SNG France 234. SNG Levante 216. SNG von Aulock 5415. Babelon, Traite’, 577. Sunrise 44. Toned. Obverse slightly off center and with silver horns/roughness. Beautiful and expressive portrait, well struck. About Very Fine/Good Very Fine.
