P. Sepullius Macer. AR Denarius, Rome mint, 44 BC (after 15 March, Caesar death). Obv. Bearded and veiled head of Marcus Antonius right. Rev. P·SEPVLLIVS – MACER. Desultor galloping right, holding whip in right hand and reins of second horse with left; in left field, wreath and palm branch. Cr. 480/22; B. 2 (Julia) ; 8 (Sepullia); RRSC D 265.17. AR. 3.53 g. 21.5 mm. R. Choice example of this rare and fascinating issue. Slightly rough surfaces. Good VF/About EF. This is the first portrait issue of Mark Antony. Struck within a month or two of the assassination of Julius Caesar, Antony is shown bearded, clearly symbolic of one in mourning.
