Sicily. Syracuse (?). Dionysios I (406-367 BC). AR Tetradrachm, 405-395 BC. Obv. Charioteer driving fast quadriga left; above, Nike flying right, crowning charioteer; grain ear left in exergue. Rev. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ. Head of Arethusa left, wearing earrings and necklace, hair in amphyx and sphendone; four dolphins around. HGC 2 1342; SNG ANS 291 (same rev. die); Tudeer 83 (V30/R56); Dewing 850. AR. 17.36 g. 23 mm. Deeply toned, well centred. Die-breaks. VF.
