Commodus, veiled, togate, ploughing right with two oxen. RIC III 570. AE. 5.05 g. 22.00 mm. Greyish green patina. Interesting issue made by an uncertain barbaric tribe. About VF/Good F. Ancient Roman coin obtained by casting using an 'official' coin as a mould. These types of ancient copies were produced and probably used in remote areas of the Roman Empire. Apparently the Roman government was often not interested in providing all provinces with coins to facilitate small monetary transactions.
