Description

Marcus Aurelius as Caesar (139-161). AE Sestertius, Rome mint. Struck under Antoninus Pius, 152-153 AD. Obv. AVRELIVS CAESAR AVG PII FIL. Bareheaded and draped bust right. Rev. TR POT VII COS II, S C in exergue, Minerva, helmeted and draped, seated right, holding vertical spear in right hand and with left, drawing out aegis on breast; round shield rests against seat and spear to left. RIC III (A. Pius) 1309b; C. 655. AE. 24.05 g. 32.50 mm. A choice example with a bold portrait. Minor metal flaws, otherwise. good VF/About EF.
