Greek Italy. Southern Apulia, Tarentum. AR Nomos, c. 280-272 BC. Obv. Nude youth on horseback right, placing wreath on horse's head; ZΩ to left, NEY/MH in two lines below. Rev. Taras on dolphin left, holding horned helmet in right hand, stars on either side; ΑΡΙΣ to right; below, ΤΑΡΑΣ. HN Italy 1006; Vlasto 747; SNG ANS 1113. AR. 6.41 g. 22.00 mm. Superb coin, sharply struck and centred. Darkly toned, underlying luster. Areas of darker patina. Good EF/EF.
