Description

Anonymous. AE Uncia, c. 105 BC. Obv. Helmeted head of Roma right. Rev. ROMA within wreath. Cr. -. AE. 2.72 g. 15.50 mm. RRRR. Apparently unlisted in the standard reference. Lovely green patina with light earthy deposits. Minor metal flaws on reverse. VF. Although there is no precise comparison for this example, both the obverse and the reverse are similar to issues dated to 105 BC, such as that of L. Hostilius Tubulus (Cr. 315/1). The reverse with the laurel wreath is also similar to the uncia of Q. Lutati Cerco (Cr. 305/2) and the semuncia of L. Thorius Balbus (Cr. 316/2).
