Description

Romanus IV, Diogenes (1068-1071). AV Histamenon Nomisma, Constantinople mint. Obv. The three sons of Constantine X and Eudocia, standing facing: Michael holding labarum and akakia, between Constantius and Andronicus, each holding globus cruciger and akakia; dotted exergual band. Rev. Christ standing facing on footstool, crowning Romanus and the empress Eudocia, each holding globus cruciger. D.O. 2; Sear 1861; Ratto 2026. AV. 4.40 g. 27.50 mm. Scarce. Superb example, struck on broad flan from detailed dies. Virtually as struck. About FDC.
